Multiply The Cash

To bring the North Carolina Lottery’s Multiply The Cash scratch-off series to life, Director Jamie Ting and Cactus went all in, creating and printing more than $6 million in fake bills to cover nearly every inch of the set. Not to be outdone, Mother Nature graced the crew with an actual downpour on shoot day, where money-drying techniques became just as important as the money-launching ones.

We fully embraced the visual language of broadcast news to make the spectacle of cash falling from the sky all the more fun and surprising.— Director, Jamie Ting

The art department engineered a full arsenal of cash-launching techniques. From air cannons to money-printed fabric to tossing it by hand, the old-fashioned way. Editor Mathison Davis brought the campaign home with a cut that leaned into the contrast between the composed newsroom sequences and the raw, handheld energy of the reporter's coverage.
