We teamed up with BarkleyOKRP to capture the full scope of an NCAA Division II student-athlete's experience, from the classroom to every aspect of college life. Working with All-American women's soccer standout Reese McDermott, Director Brendan Young took a documentary-style approach to capture how Reese and her fellow DII athletes find balance on and off the field.

Production & Post
“From day one of pre-production, we involved Reese in our creative discussions and planning, ” Brendan explains. “She knows the game and her campus better than anyone, and went above and beyond to help make this campaign true to her experience as a student-athlete. From talking through pre-game rituals, joining for location scouts, and translating the buzz of a real match onto the screen."
DP Will Gardner set out to balance polished cinematography with authentic handheld moments that felt true to Reese's story, using a combination of Clavius lenses and the Alexa Mini LF. The Colorado School of Mines set the scene perfectly, with locations such as a historic field house and the soccer stadium framed by Golden's foothills.
In the edit, Mathison Robinson integrated raw, unscripted moments that brought out the true essence of Reese’s drive and character. These moments build toward a game sequence that feels both honest and electric, and we cheer along with Reese as we see her hard work and dedication pay off in a match-winning goal.
