GCI Alaska

Working Remote

For GCI Alaska's launch of the iPhone 16, we teamed up with Director Jamie Ting and Canadian agency Cossette to create the backdrop for a hypothetical survivalist TV series, Guy vs. Alaska. Leaning on the genre’s (often unnecessary) intensity as comedic inspiration, we reveal our rugged host is only a camera pan away from civilization, as a friendly GCI tech unknowingly steals the show.

As someone who’s watched my fair share of survival shows, I appreciate the improvisational spirit that runs through every part of this campaign. Because what is a survivalist, really, but the ultimate improviser?— Director, Jamie Ting

GCI is Alaska’s largest telecommunications provider, and its goal is simple: to connect everyone in the state, regardless of how remote or rugged the landscape. At the heart of GCI’s brand is genuine Alaskan pride. You see it at the core of almost every campaign: casting Indigenous people and local talent, art direction and wardrobe selection, and, of course, shooting in iconic Alaskan locations.

Apple’s product launch schedules always make for a tight timeline, but our production and post teams rose to the challenge. Hot off the presses – the new iPhone was announced on September 9, our crew filmed in Palmer, AK, on September 16, and the Futuristic post team delivered the hero cut four days later.
