Futuristic co-produced the fourth episode of Adidas’ Icons Unveiled series, a 15-minute documentary short that aired during the most recent Winter Olympics. The film offers an intimate portrait of the world’s most decorated female skier, Mikaela Shiffrin, told through the perspective of the person who has stood beside her since the beginning: her mother and longtime coach, Eileen Shiffrin.

Over three shoot days, our team followed Mikaela and Eileen through a typical day in the life of an Olympian, from private training sessions at Copper Mountain to intimate moments at home, cooking meals and playing tennis. Combined with archival family footage, we witness Mikaela’s journey from a teenage prodigy to her historic 100th World Cup win in February 2025. Beyond her success, this episode sheds light on the lesser‑seen realities of life as an elite skier: the physical risks, the emotional toll, and the months spent on the road.
Working alongside British production company KODE and agency The Midnight Club, Futuristic provided expert local support, including on-mountain scouting and coordination for a 30-person crew. Advanced streaming technology enabled a live feed from the slopes to the client, making this a truly global collaboration across London, LA, Colorado, and her Olympic team. On-mountain capture included five camera angles, FPV drones, and high-speed Freefly Ember rigs operated by skilled skiers alongside Mikaela.
From early mornings on the mountain to the emotional highs and lows of competition, it’s a story of belief, resilience, and the unbreakable mother-daughter bond that’s fuelled one of the greatest careers in sport. It’s a story only a mother could tell.
